New Tutoring Session to Begin In September Another session of after school tutoring for foster youth will begin in late September. If your foster child is in need of a tutor, please contact us at information@connectedthroughkids.com to arrange for a tutor. Tutoring is done at our resource center one day per week for 2 hours. This opportunity is made possible through collaborative efforts between Connected Through Kids, the SD County Office of Education and Cal State San Marcos University Credentialed Teachers Program.
BACKPACKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR FOSTER KIDS

Girl Scout Troop #4947 Has Room For More Girls
If you have a child who would like to be a part of our Group Troop (age 5 - 18 yrs.) please contact our Troop Leader, Janice Evans a (760) 519-9857 for more information. Our troop meets once per month at our resource center in Escondido.
Birthday Party & Picnic Saturday, October 16, 2010 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Felicita Park in Escondido We will celebrate birthdays between April and September. Each child in your family celebrating a birthday during these months will receive a birthday gift and we will have a barbeque lunch followed by cake. Other activities will also be provided. RSVP to Diane Jackson at (760) 743-7563 with the number of family members attending as well as the names and ages of each of your children who will celebrate an April-September birthday. Birthdays in October - March birthdays will be celebrated at our March birthday party & picnic.

Upcoming Respite Day December 4th More information available soon Thanks to the FACES Ministry at Emmanuel Faith Community Church for providing a greatly appreciated Respite Day for foster parents. What a treat for our foster parents to get 4 and 5 hours of much needed time alone to be rejuvenated as they continue the great service that they provide to the community. Annual Foster Family Camping Trip
In July, 37 kids and 27 adults spent 5 days camping at Carpinteria State Beach near Santa Barbara. Thanks to our Petco Park Fundraising Team who worked to help us fund this awesome trip where we spent time relaxing, kayaking, treasure hunting, eating well and having a great time of socialization and rest.
Annual Whale Watching Trip Monday, February 15, 2010 Connected Through Kids sponsored another annual whale watching trip on Monday, February 15th. 140 foster family members filled the boat for a great day. Thanks to Diane Jackson for organizing this event and to Helgren's Sportfishing in Oceanside for helping us make this event possible.
CTK Girl Scout Group Troop #4947 Would you like to have your girls in Brownies or Girl Scouts but aren't sure what troop they could join? Your foster child can now join a troop and stay in that troop even if she moves to another home or reunites. Connected Through Kids has formed a "Group Troop" for girls of mixed ages, 5 through 16 years old. The girls can be foster, biological, or relative children. The group is led by foster parents and meets the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. If you have questions, would like to help our troop, or would like your child to join Troop #4947, call Janice Evans at (760) 519-9857.
