Music Together Classes
We will begin 10 weeks of "Music Together" classes in April.
This amazing family music program uses music and movement to facilitate the musical development of children.  Every child has the ability to keep a beat, sing in tune and participate in music with enthusiasm ad confidence.
 

Annual Birthday/St. Patricks Day Party and BBQ Picnic

  We had a blast!!  Thanks to everyone who came out to join us.  68 birthdays, a record setting party!!  In spite of the rain, we moved indoors to the Escondido Joslyn Center and even had a Mardi Gras Parade.  This was a wonderful family event full of good good and socialization, games, crafts, flower planting, plenty of food, followed by cake and ice cream.  Thanks to Diane Jackson for wrapping all of those birthday presents and the City of Escondido for helping us out with a location at the last minute. 


Annual Whale Watching Trip
The boat was full when it took off from the Oceanside Harbor for our annual whale watching trip on February 20, 2012.  A great time was had by all.  Thanks to Helgren's Sportfishing for helping us put together this amazing annual event.

New After School Tutoring Session Has Begun
A new tutoring session began in February at our resource center.
This is a collaborative effort with the SD County Office of Education, Cal State San Marcos and The Tutor Connection.

Eye Exams for Foster Children
If you have a foster child in need of an eye exam, we are partnered with LensCrafters and the OneSight program for children in need.  Email or call us to schedule an appointment.

Emmanuel Faith Community Church

Thanks to an awesome group of volunteers at Emmanuel Faith Community Church, our foster parents enjoyed 5 hours of time for themselves, while their kids are well cared for in a wonderful setting.

Christmas Appreciation Party and Pajama Giveaway on December 10th
Families enjoyed a photo with Santa, gifts and stockings, new pajamas, decorated cookies and ornaments, made Christmas necklaces, played games, socialized and enjoyed lots of great food including a fountain overflowing with chocolate.

Girl Scout Troop #4947 Has Room For More Girls
If you have a child who would like to be a part of our Group Troop (age 5 - 18 yrs.) please contact our Troop Leader, Janice Evans a (760) 519-9857 for more information.  Our troop meets once per month at our resource in Escondido.

If you are a foster parent or kinship caregiver, we have Notary Public service available to you at "no charge".  Call us at (760) 716-4824 to make arrangements to have a signature notarized.


CTK Group Camping Trip at Carpinteria
July 31 - August 7, 2011
65 of us traveled to the beach at Carpinteria for a week of camping, socializing and relaxing in the sun.  We experienced a treasure hunt, sea life in tide pools, dolphins, sea lions, squirrels, raccoons and the kids participated in a Junior Ranger program.  Families joined in campfires at night with smores, and participated in a ranger campfire program at night.  One of the best experiences about our trip is cooking for 65+ people.  Both a fun and learning experience at the same time.  We will do this annual trip again next year!!!

"Child and Babysitting Safety" Class for Teens
Ages 11 and up
Saturday, August 13, 2011, 2:30-6:30 p.m.
Dinner provided
13 Teens participated in this excellent training and each one received a CABS booklet and starter first aid kit to take home.  Upon completion of the course, participants also received a Babysitting Certificate and Pediatric CPR card. Thanks to Sue Lockhart of Lockart Training for this excellent training for our teens.

A Day At Wild Rivers
June 28, 2011
Amazing fun for kids and adults alike!!  We spent the day sliding, floating in the lazy river, socializing under the cabana while watching the little kiddos splash in the toddler pool.  Ahhh....fun in the sun.

Foster Family Night Out

Our families were treated to a presentation of The Wizard of Oz performed by church youth and then served a dinner by church members at The Church of Rancho Bernardo.  Thanks to all of you who helped make this a great night out for our foster families.

CTK Birthday Party & Picnic
April 16th
 at Felecita Park

We had a barbeque lunch and celebrated birthdays for those kids in foster families celebrating birthdays between October and April.  22 kids celebrated birthdays and each birthday child received a gift.  It was a great day.

Skin Care Class for Teens
April 11, 2011
Hope Baca, a former foster youth developed her own line of skin care products, Now There's Hope.  She provided a skin care training at CTK for our teen girls and each girl received product to take home.  Thank you Hope!!!

Annual Whale Watching Trip

Connected Through Kids sponsored another annual whale watching trip in February.  100 foster family members filled the boat for a great day.  Thanks to  Diane Jackson for organizing this event and to Helgren's Sportfishing in Oceanside for helping us make this event possible.
