Another 10 weeks session of "Music Together" classes will begin on January 9, 2014.
This amazing family music program uses music and movement to facilitate the musical development of children.  Every child has the ability to keep a beat, sing in tune and participate in music with enthusiasm ad confidence.  Thanks to Kara Howard of The Vocal Experience for this amazing class.
Thanks to the Staples Foundation for helping us fund this class.

A foster parent group has been formed to follow up with County regulations and issues that arise between foster parents/social workers, policy changes/enforcement or lack of it.  Foster parents meet with foster parent leaders every other month on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. (just prior to the 7:00 p.m. NCFPA Support Group Training at SFTH).  What has been discovered is that typically the same foster parent complaints arise regarding the same issues and staff involved.  Clarification can be obtained and issues can be resolved before reaching the frustration level for many foster parents but we need your FOSTER PARENT VOICE.

We had our annual 7 day camping trip to Carpinteria State Beach in August.  We had a princess/pirate party, camped under the starts, participated in the Junior Ranger program, saw lots of sea life, enjoyed the tide pools, kayaking, nature animals and most of all socialization with other foster families.  For some of our kids it was the first time they ever camped and for others it was re-connecting with friends.  Thanks to the David T. and Dorris E. Staples Foundation for helping us fund this amazing annual adventure.

Thanks to Supervisor Dave Roberts for providing a grant and Brady Corporation for thier funding assistance for our North County Foster Family Picnic, Health & Wellness Fair/Community Partner Outreach Day which was held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at San Dieguito Park in Solana Beach.  This family event was a collaborative partnership between Connected Through Kids and Straight From The Heart, Inc.  A fun time was had by all.  Thanks to all of our Community Partners who set up booths and provided information regarding their services to our foster/adoptive families.

While we had a break from Music Together Class during the summer our kids were able to stay connected and participate in indoor swimming lessons and enjoy a trip to Legoland.  What a bunch of swimmers and friendly adventurers group we have!!

Thanks to our amazing fundraising Petco Park team of volunteers.  This fundraising project is a huge project that we could not do without each of your individual help.  We worked 29 Padre games plus the Mexico Soccer Game and these funds enable us to provide the activities and services we provide to our foster, adoptive and kinship families.  If you are interested in joining our team, please email us and let us know.  There will be a mandatory food handlers training for the next season in March, 2014 and we will add you to our notification list.
